The Griners

I spent Sunday evening with some of the Griner family to celebrate JoAnn's birthday and contemplate the loss of Barbara Griner (Mom Griner to me). Dad Griner and Cindy smoked ribs and chicken and Aunt Pat and Cindy made beans and potato salad. It was a delicious meal.

For any of you that may not already know, the Griner's are a second family to me (and were to Ben). Barbara (Mom) kept us from the time each of us were six months old every weekday. The kids were older than Ben and me. JoAnn the youngest, is ten years older than me and she took the brunt of my abuse (until Donna showed up). In the afternoon she would want to watch M*A*S*H and I would want to watch Mr. Rogers. I always won. Sorry about that Jo. But man, I loved some Mr. Rogers. The Griner kids would take me to the mall and to the beach and to ride a horse for the first time. I was in their weddings. They came to see me play sports. I love them very much and I thought you should know.

(I added a few photos from Sunday's visit to the "Best of…" album.

Thanks Jo for always letting Amy get her way. This explains so much. :o)

Oh, it wasn't her letting me get my way. It was Mom. Jo was not pleased with Mr. Rogers and fought it every chance she got.
But it does explain a lot doesn't it? : )
