Today has been a great day. Everything after actually getting out of bed has been great. Great ride to work, great chats by the water cooler. And the problem with getting out of bed? Our new damn mattress.
Kendra announced we needed a new mattress last week. Well, she'd mentioned it before but I had stored it in the We Need A New Hot tub, Pool table, Treadmill, etc. file. I figured we had a mattress, and it was still in one piece, so what's the problem.
This past weekend she dragged me into a mattress place. I really never thought I'd find myself in one of them, right along with the store that for years has only sold bar stools. Seriously? Only bar stools? Really? Anyway, there we are and of course a sales guy is all up on us as we walk in...Soft or Firm? Uh, That's what she said ?
Fast forward about 17 seconds and Kendra is lying on a mattress. Like nobody's business. If I hadn't just witnessed the previous 5 minutes I would have sworn she was asleep. Now, I'd like to believe, I'd like YOU to believe that I was all cool about the whole thing. But I was not. I was giggling. Uncontrollable giggling like a young girl who simply can't control herself. What was so funny? EVERYTHING. Kendra's lying down on a mattress in public - what's not funny about that? And another mattress...now she's taking to them like, well, insert some simile here about fast friends. And I am still giggling. I finally got a handle on myself and, after some constrained encouragement from Kendra, got on one of the beds myself. Now we were both lying there in the middle of a large store, lying in bed trying desperately to pretend we were not in that situation at all - but in fact at our our home lying on our own bed. Well, that's what I was doing.
Wow. So anyway, I liked the bed that didn't move around when I moved around best. Since Kendra was close personal friends with all of the mattresses, she said goodbye to all her other friends and we scheduled delivery for this past Tuesday. And my lord, does it make all the difference. I mean, no wonder the pins kept falling over on our old mattress.

Congrats on the new matress! Ours has been going downhill for quite some time, and as i was saying how new it was the other day i realized it was ACTUALLY 10 years old. Yikes.
Woah! Time flies when you're having fun....
